What is JAPINO?

Japanese-Filipino children (JFC), also known as “JAPINO” are those children born with Japanese and Filipino parents regardless if they were born in Japan or in the Philippines.

Instead of being treated or tagged as half- Japanese half-filipino, they should be treated as double… Which simply means these children, are more often than not, carry a double advantage of being Japanese and a Filipino.

First are the inherited character and traits from two races. Disciplined, hard-working and with great sense of determination, some of the Japanese’s dominant character, while Filipino’s are known for their being hospitable, talented and their great family ties.

Secondly, the rights and privileges that come along with being Japanese and a Filipino. They can be home to both countries, which they can call their own.

Scenario

Each situation brings out a different kind of scenarios. It is case-to-case basis which are determined based on the following circumstances:

* Japanese Father and Filipino Mother were married or not married;
* Japino was born in Japan or in the Philippines;
* Japino was recognized by the Japanese Father or Not;
* Japino is registered in Kosekitohon or not;
* Japino holds a Japanese Passport or a Philippine Passport;
